Welcome to Craftset Newsletter
A weekly newsletter about building great products, the craft of industry, and accelerating your career.
In the fall of 2023, I found myself talking to a stranger at a bar in Fort Collins, Colorado. I was there for a customer conference, where twice a year we invite several of our customers to share their input and feedback on our product planning and roadmaps.
“So, what do you do?” he asked.
Over the past six years, I’ve had countless opportunities to hone my answer to this question. I try to be concise yet engaging in my answer, and I usually tailor it to my audience.
It just so happened that this stranger had a previous career as a sales leader for one of the largest producers of jarred garlic in the country. You’ve probably seen their products in your local grocery store.
I soon found myself describing in depth how the products we develop help manufacturers package glass jars, control conveyor belts, and stack boxes onto pallets - 100% automated.
There's a profound sense of pride in knowing that my work contributes to some of the world's most critical systems and processes. At its best, automation isn't just about efficiency—it's about empowering frontline workers to accomplish more while ensuring they return home safely each day.
In my experience, technology is deeply human. The industries we serve are rich with inspiring stories of extraordinary individuals. These are the people behind the scenes, crafting everything from life-saving medications to our pets' favorite treats, from vital infrastructure to the mesmerizing Fountains of Bellagio, and from cutting-edge aerospace innovations to the cup of coffee on your desk. Craftset is dedicated to telling their stories.
